Changing the Way You View Technical Documentation

One of the biggest obstacles and objections to overcome in Sales is the "Status Quo".  When talking with customers & prospects, I know they have a system in place that is obviously getting the job done….They are getting designs completed, products are being fully developed, parts, machines & products are being manufactured, and technical documentation is getting printed.  But the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality is a dangerous CAD adage to live by!

Let's take technical documentation as an example.  Almost everyone needs to produce it: repair manuals, parts catalogs, assembly instructions, product manuals, etc… Most of you in the CAD world rely on your engineers or designers to create screen shots of the product.  Have you ever heard, "It has to be at this particular angle and show an exploded view"…to most of you this sounds familiar in the engineering department.  So, do you make a configuration of the model so you don't accidentally make changes to the completed model?  How long does it take you to pull each part off an assembly to show an exploded view?  If it isn't "just right", do you have to do it again?

For the people who are responsible for creating the text of the technical documentation, now what?  You have your images (maybe) and you import them into Word, Publisher or other software and have to create the text to explain the images.  But if you had better images or more images, could you explain the process in fewer words or no words?  Annotating the images is also a challenge…drawing arrow and showing directionality.

So what is wrong with this?  It is getting the job done…isn't it?  If there was a better, faster, and cost effective way to repurpose your existing CAD data to produce graphical assets, why wouldn't you want to investigate it?

Remember when you went from 2D to 3D?  Some of you were early adopters.  You were ahead of the competition modeling in 3D.  And the late adopters, well…they realized they needed it just to stay up to speed with the Competition.  3D today is not a luxury any longer but a necessity to stay competitive in the market place.  With competition getting fiercer, what is going to make your product stand out from the competition?  Documentation is certainly one way….by having documentation that matches the quality of your product!

So what is the point of all this?  Companies need to become more effective, more efficient, and make larger profit margins.  This is not a new idea.  But the "Status Quo" is hurting many companies because they do not know there is a better way or don't realize the cost of doing it inefficiently.

So what is the sales pitch? Simply, watch this video and see for yourself and you will be amazed!  3DVia Composer is technical communication software that allows you to repurpose your existing CAD Data…import a 3D model, rotate it in a 3D space, create exploded views with a simple click of a button, create raster and vector drawings, hide or highlight areas of an assembly, and annotate and animate -just to name a few things.  Once more…IT WILL NEVER CHANGE THE ORIGINAL CAD MODEL! Sounds great, doesn't it?  See for yourself!
